Dear Godmanchester & Hilton Church Family,

There will be a lot of information in this mailing. Please read it carefully to avoid confusion!

Both PCCs have now met, and I am very pleased to say that in both parishes worship in church will resume from Good Friday, April 2nd. At Hilton, there will be a

Good Friday liturgy in church at 10.00 am (a change from the usual 11.45 am), and at Godmanchester we will keep to our normal time of 1.30 pm.

On Easter Sunday (April 4th), there will be services in church at Hilton (8.00 am) and Godmanchester (9.30 am), and we will then keep to that pattern for the

following Sundays, until we are eventually, God willing, able to resume all normal services.

Please note that masks will still be required in church, distancing must be observed (with particular care taken around the doors at the end of the service), and

communion will still be in one kind only, the consecrated bread.

At Godmanchester, the Flower Guild will be decorating the church for Easter and the Lily Memorial Book is now in place at the Memorial altar for dedications.  If

you would like to donate a lily please use the lily donation envelopes available by the south door.

Unfortunately, the other big 'set-piece' Holy Week services at Godmanchester can't take place under current circumstances - I will set out in a separate message

tomorrow what I propose for Holy Week on Zoom.

The dates for the Annual Parish Church Meeting have been set for both churches - both will be by Zoom. Godmanchester is on Sunday May 16th at 11.15 am (I'mafraid that the APCM will replace the Zoom service that morning), and Hilton's is on Sunday May 30th at 12.15 am. Links will be sent out later.

We hope to hold the annual Summer Fete at Godmanchester on Saturday June 26th. This will be not in the Vicarage garden, but in the bottom (east end) of the

churchyard. It is an old custom to hold all kinds of festivities in the churchyard, so I hope no-one will be offended by this. Plans are underway at Hilton to keep Feast

Week (July 25th to 31st) in some form.

For those who knew Daphne Negus, her funeral is tomorrow (Friday 26th) at 1.15 pm in St Mary's Godmanchester - all are welcome to pay their respects in the churchyard then.

If you have kindly offered to read on Palm Sunday, thank you. I will get your script to you by tomorrow.
